The Doctor and the Rough Rider by Mike Resnick

docMy son would probably laugh, but discovered a new author (to me.) Guess Mike Resnick is pretty famous.

Available at the Prescott Public Library  The Doctor and the Rough Rider is part of the Wierd West Tales series and offers a steampunk view of Arizona history when Doc Holliday meets up with Theodore Roosevelt near Tombstone.

Published in 2012, the novella includes multiple appendices that shed light on the “alternate history” of what really happened.  Not one to read ahead, I discovered this only AFTER I pestered my husband constantly to “Google it…” to see if something really happened…

Brings out the best in a steampunk type novel — fun, intriguing, and makes you want to dig deeper.

About ellen

My husband and I have recently returned to Arizona after having been gone for almost 30 years... After retiring as a teacher, I'm happy to indulge myself in creating nativities and other fun stuff...
